Grigoria's Parents Weekend...Saturday
Today is my Dad’s birthday and both Maria and I had planned the day’s events with military precision.First up was breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien, one of the most successful Belgian exports since chocolate and TinTin, and then my Mum and I went to do our nails (!) while Maria, Alastair (Maria’s boyfriend) and my Dad went for a long walk in Hyde Park.
The nail salon was a great success; the ladies were all Spanish speaking and I had to ask my mum for translation!Next up was Maria and Alastair’s surprise: they had bought tickets to the Lion King, one of the most spectacular musical plays in London right now. My mother absolutely loved it and my Dad, musicals are not his thing, had a really good time too.
Come dinner time our instructions were clear: it doesn’t matter what food they have as long as they serve Guinness!Blair and I had often walked by a hansom pub near Putney Bridge, the Duke’s Head, so we thought we’d give it a go. Everything started well.
Our table was fantastic with great views by the river, the Guinness was expertly poured and our starters were great. Unfortunately after nearly two hours of waiting it transpired that they kitchen had messed up our order and we had to wait some more for our mains.
Although we had a good time chatting, the general behaviour of the staff was such that we were not prepared to wait even longer so we paid our bill and went to GBK: the kiwi burger place of choice for some scrumptious burgers!Despite the dinner setback everyone had a wonderful day!
