Sports Day
Every year Grigoria’s work open up their sports grounds for the staff and their families to enjoy a fun packed day of Cricket, Tennis, Five-a-side football, clay shooting and good food. This year Grigoria’s sister Maria and Alistair (her partner) joined us for the trek to the sport’s club (two buses and a walk) and a good day under the hot British sun.
As soon as we arrived Maria demonstrated her impressive dodgem skills; not only did she manage to elbow out a little child for a seat in one of the cars to begin with, (Grigoria just wasn’t fast enough!) but she also showed no mercy behind the wheel.
After watching a bit of the fiercely contested inter-office football tournament (you could tell that a number of Grigoria’s colleagues always wanted to be footballers!) Alistair & I both tried our hand at Clay shooting and some games of tennis on their beautiful grass courts.
Maria and Grigoria were the (unwilling) ball girls –minus the Ralph Lauren Wimbledon outfit as Maria pointed out and had their work cut out! A couple of aces later it was time for lunch. The BBQ food was absolutely delicious but a bit too plentiful for our own good! The day ended with some Pimms in the shade whilst watching the cricket (and spotting ex-England international cricket players!).
All in all an excellent day!
