Cirque Du Soleil - Alegria

Last night Grigoria & I had the pleasure of seeing the fantastic show Cirque Du Soleil – Alegria at the Royal Albert Hall.

Thanks to luck and Grigoria’s work, we had seats in a corporate box two down from the Queens!

As for the show….well that was amazing! The gymnasts, clowns, music and amazingly talented acrobats just amazed us.

Numerous times we couldn’t believe what we’d just seen, with people jumping, flipping and rolling around the stage, over each other and through the air!

A top show and well worth seeing if you get the chance.

Snow!

To our surprise this morning we awoke to a good dusting of snow!

All the roads, cars, trees, flowers, bikes and footpaths had a good layer.


This is the third time it’s snowed during the recent years I’ve been in London and this morning would have been one of the best dumps.



It’s so surprising given the recent unseasonably warm weather we’ve been having but the last few days it has felt more and more like winter.


Unfortunately there wasn’t enough to start a snow fight with Grigoria so hopefully tonight it will snow again…

Happy New Year 07!

As Maria (Grigoria’s sister) was unable to join us for Christmas in Greece, we decided to spend New Years Eve with her and her partner Alastair.

Some hours before midnight we headed to their place and enjoyed a great home cooked meal, in some ways it felt like Christmas all over again!

After the meal (and the odd glass of wine) Maria & Alastair prepared the ritual of retrieving the lucky coin. As it goes you hide a coin in the middle of a cake and then cut it into pieces for everyone, each person chooses a piece and one will discover they have it! Well after a second attempt I realised I had it! Let’s just hope the coin is true to the myth and it is a good year for me.

So as the clock drew close we

counted down to midnight and celebrated the New Year as the Big Ben bells chimed out.

Finally we hope that everyone had a good one with family / friends where ever you all are in the world and hope the New Year brings happiness to you all.

Christmas in Greece......

Well, our quick five-day trip to Greece and not to mention my first ‘Greek Christmas experience’ was something special. Although somewhat short we both still enjoyed spending time with Grigoria’s family at their warm Kalavryta home.

Given the proximity of the Kalavryta ski centre (less than 20kms away) the village had a distinctive yuppie sky village feel to it. In September I was the only tourist and now I felt like a local (minus the language barrier of course).

Our Christmas Day mainly involved unwrapping the great gifts (from Santa) and eating like there was no tomorrow, then of course a well-deserved siesta! The more I’m in Greece the more I get used to these afternoon naps; it’s what I did when I was small child!

Boxing day involved more resting in front of the open fire, walking off some that Christmas pudding and then replacing it with more…

Wednesday & Thursday we spent in Athens with Grigoria’s parents, which was very nice before heading back to London later on Thursday evening.
