Bath Time!
Almost six years after graduating from university I am back in Bath to see what has changed (a lot) and what is still the same.Blair and I wanted to do a day trip during the Bank holiday weekend and Bath was the prime contender. Although Blair has visited before he was happy to come down the memory lane with me!
The city of Bath is a Unesco world heritage site mainly due to its beautiful Georgian buildings, like the Royal Crescent and the Circus. Add to that Aquae Sulis (the Roman Baths - http://www.romanbaths.co.uk), and the beautiful Bath Abbey and what you have is one of the prettiest and most historically important cities in England.
We started our day wondering around the narrow shopping streets of Bath and then walked up to the Circus and the Royal Crescent. 1000 pictures later, mostly taken by the hordes of visiting tourists, it was time for lunch.
As a student I never really used to go out for lunch (although I still know the best sandwich places!) so finding the right place was a bit tricky. In the end we decided on “The Hole in the Wall” (www.theholeinthewall.co.uk), a quirky place with excellent food and atmosphere.
Next stop was the University of Bath (www.bath.ac.uk). It was funny being back. Although many things have changed (there seem to be a lot more buildings now) it still felt very familiar. I am sure Blair got tired of me say “this wasn’t here before”, “oh, I remember this” but he was a very good trooper and humoured my trip down memory lane!
Still having a couple of hours left before we had to board our train back to London we decided to watch a bit of cricket at the Bath Cricket Club (www.bathcricket.com). Funnily enough this is the first time I’ve ever been there despite my three years in Bath!
