Easter Weekend....Good Friday

As Easter came early this year we decided to stay in London and then celebrate the Greek Easter in late April in Greece instead.
Despite our London bound weekend we still enjoyed time with good friends Leigh & Kylie who primarily came down from Manchester for a family wedding and stayed with us today before the wedding on Sunday.

So as expected in March we were hit with some real wintry weather which meant pulling out the heavy coat, gloves and scarf again...
Nevertheless on Saturday we decided to brave the elements and head to bankside to check out a great photographic exhibition by one of Leigh’s favourite landscape photographers www.davidnoton.com

Both Grigoria and I really like the work and were pleased for Leigh that he got to meet David Noton for a signing of his latest book.

After the exhibition we settled in an old English pub over looking the Thames and enjoyed Fish & Chips, homemade pies and some drinks, while watching the rain wash over.

A few hours later we waved farewell to Leigh & Kylie who caught a train to Essex while Grigoria heading home to get warm indoors.

It was great to see Leigh & Kylie again and it’s not too long before I see them again in June for a short break to the South of France and Spain.

Grigoria's Parents Weekend...Sunday

My parents’ plane was leaving at lunch time today so we only had time for a glorious breakfast before we had to say goodbye. The place of choice was Giraffe where we redeemed ourselves from the poor dinner location of the night before!

Both Blair and I were very sad to say goodbye to my parents but we are looking forward to seeing them again this April in Greece!

Grigoria's Parents Weekend...Saturday

Today is my Dad’s birthday and both Maria and I had planned the day’s events with military precision.
First up was breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien, one of the most successful Belgian exports since chocolate and TinTin, and then my Mum and I went to do our nails (!) while Maria, Alastair (Maria’s boyfriend) and my Dad went for a long walk in Hyde Park.

The nail salon was a great success; the ladies were all Spanish speaking and I had to ask my mum for translation!

Next up was Maria and Alastair’s surprise: they had bought tickets to the Lion King, one of the most spectacular musical plays in London right now. My mother absolutely loved it and my Dad, musicals are not his thing, had a really good time too.

Come dinner time our instructions were clear: it doesn’t matter what food they have as long as they serve Guinness!
Blair and I had often walked by a hansom pub near Putney Bridge, the Duke’s Head, so we thought we’d give it a go. Everything started well.

Our table was fantastic with great views by the river, the Guinness was expertly poured and our starters were great. Unfortunately after nearly two hours of waiting it transpired that they kitchen had messed up our order and we had to wait some more for our mains.

Although we had a good time chatting, the general behaviour of the staff was such that we were not prepared to wait even longer so we paid our bill and went to GBK: the kiwi burger place of choice for some scrumptious burgers!

Despite the dinner setback everyone had a wonderful day!
